September's Volunteer of the Month

Lia

Meet another of our young shelter stars. She especially loves Decker. and takes him to BAD RAP class. We're just hoping Lia doesn't drop out of school to spend more time with the dogs!

What do you do when you're not at the shelter?

When I'm not at the shelter, I love reading, hanging out with my friends, baking, and being with my own dog. But to be honest when I'm not at the shelter I'm usually trying to figure out how I can get to the shelter.

Why did you initially decide to volunteer at BACS?

I love animals, especially dogs, so I always wanted to volunteer at the shelter. I started volunteering for a school project where we got to choose the topic, and I never wanted to leave.

What are your favorite things about volunteering?

Everything's my favorite part!! The dogs are all incredible, and it's inspiring to see how much they learn and get better at the shelter. Seeing their wagging tails every day is probably my favorite part about the shelter. I also love seeing a dog you've worked with a lot getting better with their manners and commands. It's a great feeling of accomplishment!.

Who are your favorite dogs, past and present?

Present: Decker! Miles, Boiboi, Bean, Malia, Jazmin and Dawn
Past: Moose, Kauz, Lollie, Olive, Eagle, Ozzie, Comet, Izzie, Patches, and Delilah.

Decker and the stick

Our Decker loves his sticks and we love him! Why hasn't someone taken this silly sweet boy home yet?

Meet Carlos: New Kid in Town

Carlos is just a pup at 9 months. He's a roly-poly low-slung boy with an upbeat doggie attitude.

Don't be fooled by the cropped ears and beefy look. This pooch is an affectionate, lovely boy.

Out at the park, Carlos was keenly interested in everything we passed. We spent several minutes watching this man remove slats from the fence. Me thinks Carlos hasn't been out in the world much and everything is new and oh-so-interesting.

A face so worthy of love!
